Meet Ana

Hello! My name is Anastasiya Kovalev, but I just go by Ana. I’m a wifey, mama, and now a blogger. Here’s a little bit about me: I got married in July 2018 to the most compassionate and caring guy ever (Stanley). And we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy (James) in September 2019. So now I stay at home with James allll day long. While my husband, who is our breadwinner, owns a Landscaping company and works often. Being at home all day with a kiddo can be quite dull sometimes. So to keep my sanity intact, I’ve decided to start blogging. Here you will find recipes that I’ve tried and loved, products varying for kitchen to baby, to electronics and home that we have used and loved, and just blogs about our life every now and then. I am thrilled to start this blog and for you to see our family favorite recipes and products.

When my husband and I were starting this blog we had a hard time thinking of a name. But one thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to be posting on Mondays. For most people Mondays are dreadful, but here I am to freshen them up. Every Monday, I’ll post a yummy new recipe that you and your family will LOVE! And every now and then I’ll post a quick blog about some of our favorite products or just about our lives. So stay tuned, exciting things are coming soon!

My Background

I was born in Russia, and my parents moved our family here in 2004 with nothing but a suitcase. We moved here without knowing the language, but we worked hard to learn it and achieve the American Dream for ourselves. And wow am I thankful that we moved here or what. I have God to thank for everything He’s given and blessed me with.

Growing up my mom always cooked delicious Russian cuisine, I loved to eat it but too bad I didn’t pay attention to how to make it. One of the most important things you need to know about being a homemaker is HOW TO COOK! So after getting married I would constantly ask my mom, mom-in-law, and even my aunt for their recipes. I have some amazing cooks in my life that influence me in the kitchen. It’s a shame that most of their recipes would be by eye. “Just add enough milk so the batter would be more runny like pancakes”, I was getting tired of my foods turning out amazing one time and then I would recreate it and the would be nothing like the first time I made it. So I started writing everything down and creating a mini cookbook for myself. And my recipes seem to be a hit, my family sometimes asks me for the recipe and even to make a dish or two for family parties. It was SUCH an honor to have them ask me to make something!

My recipes are a twist of Russian, Moldovan, and American. You might be thinking is Russian and Moldovan food even good? Trust me it’s amazing home cooking you never knew you needed in your life.

How I Got Started

I’ve just recently got into cooking and baking. Before I got married I rarely ever cooked, since I lived with my parents and my mom did all the cooking for me. So when I got married it was a rocky start for me in the kitchen since the only thing I knew how to make was chicken noodle soup and even that was a struggle. Lots of trial and error, but eventually I started to get the hang of it. My recipes are a mix of Russian, Moldovan and American; the best of the cultures. I’ve been making a little recipe book for myself so I could keep track of everything I tried and loved. And every time I would make something and either post about it on Instagram or bring it to a family gathering, everyone would love it! And I keep getting asked for my recipes and keep getting suggestions about starting a cooking channel. So here it is! But as you can see, I’m not just all about cooking and baking. I also have a slight shopping addiction. So I decided to share my purchases with you too! Everything that we tried and loved and would recommend to friends and family.
