Beef & Vegetable Podliva (Gravy)

Recipe Makes: 4 – 6 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Total Time: 50 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb beef

2 tbsp corn oil; divided

1 cup carrots (2 medium carrots)

1 medium onion

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 tbsp corn starch

salt & pepper to taste

water

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Chop up the vegetables and beef into small cubes. Then heat up 1 tbsp of corn oil in a pan on medium heat. Once heated, add in the chopped carrots, and onion.
  2. Once the vegetable start to become golden brown add in the tomato paste and mix until well incorporated. Set aside.
  3. Grab a pot with a heavy bottom and heat up the rest of the corn oil on medium heat. Add in the beef slices once oil it hot. Sauté until the beef becomes golden brown and then add in the vegetables. Add in corn starch and mix until everything is well combined.
  4. Pour enough water that the beef and vegetables are covered. Place the lid on and let simmer on low heat for 20-30 minutes. Or until there is about half the amount of water left. Finally salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve with mashed potatoes or pasta. Enjoy!
