Recipe Makes: around 2 cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs strawberries
1 cup granulated sugar
DIRECTIONS:
- Start off by washing the strawberries, then cut the tops off and cut then in half. The bigger ones you can cut in half again. Then take all of the strawberries and place them into a pot.
- Turn on medium heat and let the strawberries start to cook, be sure to stir them often so they don’t burn and stick. Once the strawberries start to release their juices, add in the sugar. The amount of sugar you add in will depend on how sweet you want the strawberries to be. Once the sugar is added, stir the sugar in well.
- Let the strawberries cook for another 20 minutes, but be sure to stir them often so the jam doesn’t burn.
- The jam will thicken up as it cooks. How thick you want the jam to be will determine how long you will to cook it for. For us the perfect jam consistency took about 25 minutes to get, it’s thick but not too thick. And of course the jam will thicken up slightly more as it cools.
- Place the jam into mason jars and let cool. Enjoy with some homemade bread.
