Recipe Makes: 5-6 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hr 30 minutes

Total Time: 1 hr 40 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

½ rack baby back ribs; each rib slice individually

½ garlic head

3 cups of rice

3-4 large carrots; cut into matchstick size

Italian blend seasoning to taste

salt and pepper to taste

4 cups hot water

½ cup corn oil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Start off the plov by place the rice into a bowl full of cold water, and let the rice sit for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large dutch oven, heat up the corn oil on medium heat. Once the oil is heated add in the baby back ribs. I like to cook one side at a time. Lightly season the ribs with salt, pepper, and Italian blend seasoning.
  3. Continue cooking the ribs until they start to become a nice golden color. Then add in the shredded carrots and saute until they are softened.
  4. Then pour in the hot water and let it come to a boil. Once the water has come to a boil, drain the rice and add it into the dutch oven. Add in the garlic and mix everything together. This is the step where you want to taste the water and see how it is flavor wise.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Let the plov cook covered on medium heat for 30 minutes, or until the rice fluffed up and you no longer see the water on top.
  6. Then place the plov into the oven and bake at 350 F for another 30 minutes or so. Let cool slightly and enjoy!
