Cream Cheese Danish

Recipe Makes: 8 Danishes

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb puff pastry

8 oz cream cheese; softened

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

1 egg

powdered sugar for dusting

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl beat together cream cheese and granulated sugar. Once combined add in add in vanilla extract and the egg yolk. Whisk until it is all well combined and set aside.
  2. Whisk the egg in a ramekin to make egg wash.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry dough on a well floured surface into a large rectangle. Scoop the cream cheese mixture into the center and spread it around but leave an even amount on both sides for when you fold it. Then make thin slices in the dough and fold them, one over the other. (look at the pictures)
  4. Place the pastry on a sheet pan lined parchment paper. Brush with egg wash.
  5. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. Let cool to room temperature and then dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
