Cream Cheese Danish

Recipe Makes: 8 Danishes

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb puff pastry

8 oz cream cheese; softened

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

1 egg

powdered sugar for dusting

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl beat together cream cheese and granulated sugar. Once combined add in add in vanilla extract and the egg yolk. Whisk until it is all well combined and set aside.
  2. Whisk the egg in a ramekin to make egg wash.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry dough on a well floured surface and cut it into squares (there should be 8 even squares 1/4 inch thick). Scoop 2 tsp of the cream cheese mixture into the center of the square and spread it around a little. Bring the diagonal edges together and seal with egg wash.
  4. Place the pastries on a sheet pan lined parchment paper. Brush the pastries with egg wash.
  5. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown. Let cool to room temperature and then dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
