Recipe Makes: 12 Tortillas
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time 1 minute for each tortilla
about 12-15 minutes for the whole recipe
Total Time: about 30 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 2/3 cup water; hot
¼ cup oil (vegetable, corn, or olive oil)
DIRECTIONS:
- In the large bowl, combine together flour and salt. Add in hot water and vegetable oil. Mix/knead until well combined and a dough ball forms. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Split the dough in half on a well floured surface. And split the half into 6 even pieces. Roll out each piece until its about ¼ inch thick. You can leave it with the uneven edges, I like to because it makes them look more authentic, or you could use a plate to cut out the shape. Repeat until you have 12 tortillas.
- Heat a medium/large size pan up to medium heat and place a your rolled tortilla. Cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Keep watch, once the dough starts to bubble up a little check the side that’s cooking. Once the side is golden brown, flip it. Cook the other side for about 30 seconds or until golden brown.
- Cover with a kitchen towel until ready to serve. Enjoy!
