Rise Time: 2 hrs 30 minutes
Cook Time: 40-55 minutes
Total Time: 3 hrs 25-40 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
3 ¾ cups flour; plus more for dusting
1 ¾ cups warm water (100-115 F)
1 tsp salt
½ tbsp active dry yeast
DIRECTIONS:
- In a microwave safe container, heat up the water for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Use a thermometer to check the water temperature, the water should be around 100-115 F. Sprinkle the yeast on to the water, once it’s in the desired temperature range. Let the yeast activate for 5-7 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, add flour and salt. Mix to combine. Mix the yeast water and add it to the flour. Mix with a wooden spoon until well combined. If dough is still sticking to the bowl add in more flour.
- Cover bowl with clear wrap and let rise in a warm area for 2 hrs. On a well floured surface, drop the dough and fold it on to its self. If the dough starts to get sticky add more flour. Keep folding dough on to itself until a firm dough ball forms.
- Score the dough and line a pot with parchment paper. Let the dough rise uncovered for 30 minutes. While dough is rising, preheat oven to 400 F.
- Bake the dough for 30-40 minutes. Take the dough out of the pot and let cool. (OPTIONAL: if you want to bread to be crispier, take it our of the pot and put it back into the oven on a pan for 10 minutes to let the sides toast up some more.) Enjoy!
